Q:
Does it cost to enter?
A: There is no
entry fee.
Q:
Do I need to complete one form per person?
A: Yes. That
person may then enter several categories on the one form
Q:
In Australian Hairdresser of the Year, I know it has to be wearable
and commercial however can it slightly be
editorial?
A: Best to refer
to page 4 of the booklet, the photographic collection points 6 and
7.
Q:
Do you provide a model release sheet or do we provide our own model
release form?
A: We will
provide your model release form and any other declarations that are
required to be signed for your submission.
Q:
Can one person enter one category twice?
A: You can only
enter each category once.
Q:
I have heard that Hair Expo provides a CV/Questionnaire this year.
Do I need to provide anything else apart from the photographic
collection?
A: Each category
outlines in the CV /Questionnaire the supporting documentation
required by you. If you have supporting documentation that you
believe adds to your CV do include this however it must be separate
to the CV and not bound together.
A: You can however there are a few exceptions. You CANNOT enter both Australian Hairdresser of the Year and New Creative Force. If you are considering entering Apprentice of the Year, this will be the only category you qualify for.
Q: Can I enter the Photographic Collection of the Year?
A: All submissions will be automatically entered into this category.
Q: I want to enter Session Stylist of the Year. Can I just do a photographic shoot and submit these images?
A: You can enter however your photographic collection requires you to submit six photographs that represent six separate stories, of which four have been published during the awards period.
Q: Can you remind me what I need to send in to complete my submission?
A: You must include the printed out CV/Questionnaire complete with answers, an accompanying booklet with all supporting documentation, press book where required and the photographic collection as required based on the categories entered.
Q: The photographic collection for Salon Team, does it have to be one collection?
A: The photographic submission can be photographed as a stand alone collection or a combination of images from current submissions to form “a collection”.
Q: Do you include GST when quoting prices?
A: Yes you do, and please state “All prices include GST” on your CV/Questionnaire.
Q: Can I have a male model for my photographic collection?
A: Yes you can, but it would not be recommended.
Q: When answering the average dollar spend per client question, should I include colour services when this was completed by the colour team?
A: Include the full client spend.
Q: Does a model release form need to be signed by every model?
A: Yes, it must be signed by every model. If you need to fax or post the form to a model interstate or overseas please do so, not every model needs to have signed the same form, you may have multiple forms.
Q: To enter the Australian Hairdresser of the Year category, do you still need to complete 16 hours on the floor?
A: No, there is no longer a minimum hours required.
Q: I finished my Apprenticeship at the end of 2007, can I still enter?
A: You must have been an Apprentice for approximately 75% of the awards period, (1st April 2007 – 10th March 2008).
Q: Do I need to supply a press book?
A: Some categories require a press book, as indicated in the questions. The press book is to produce evidence and supporting documentation for your submission. Please ensure your press book is separate from your CV/Questionnaire.
Q: Why is there a CV/Questionnaire this year?
A: Hair Expo has responded to the feedback from stylists about the expense of producing a book and has standardised format for everybody. This allows judges to find answers to your questions easily.
Q: Are there any tips you could give me?
A: Answer the questions thoroughly. The judges are interested in the content of the answer relevant to the question. Have someone else read your answers to be sure that you are in fact answering them.
